The weather is very cold in winter but surprisingly hot in summer. The year I was there was very mild, but in winter temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees centigrade are common with heavy snowfalls. 

In summer temperatures will often be in the thirties centigrade, with high humidity and lots of mosquitoes if you live near the lake!
